How usage billing works
What counts, what never counts, when the rate is fixed and how the invoice is produced.
Updated 14 October 2026
TixBloom charges per unique checked-in attendee, after a free allowance on every event. The rate steps down in volume bands (for example one rate for arrivals 51–2,000 and lower rates above that), and each arrival is charged the rate of the band its number falls in. The current bands are shown on the pricing page; they are saved on each event when you publish it.
Counted once
- Free and paid attendees both count, once, on their first successful check-in.
- A multi-day event counts each attendee once.
- Staff and exhibitor passes never count.
Never counted
- No-shows
- Re-entries and repeat scans
- Badge reprints
- Cancelled or refunded tickets that were never scanned
The ledger and the invoice
The moment an attendee's first check-in succeeds, one row is written to an append-only usage ledger in the same database transaction. The invoice issued after the event is generated from that ledger and cross-checked against the formula; if they ever disagree, the invoice is not issued and we investigate.
